In November 2025, we were brought on as part of an effort by the Vermont Foodbank to help develop strategic approaches that could address food resilience in the state. While supporting several of our regional cohort’s initiatives, Ascendant focused specifically on developing a vision and model that could proactively grow food resources while also addressing the underlying causes of food insecurity for our neighbors.
After a six month process we presented our concept, NeighborGood, to the FoodBank as part of a group presentation in April 2026. Our approach was well received – garnering an initial start-up grant from the FoodBank, and NeighborGood is currently in the fundraising process with a goal of opening the physical location by early Fall.
With two experienced and committed people ready to take the helm, NeighborGood is strongly positioned to serve the Bethel, Stockbridge, Barnard, Pittsfield and Rochester communities – and ideally, serve as a model for other regions in Vermont.
“Wow wow wow wow wow, this is incredible!! What a succinct and strong narrative of all the work done and what’s ahead. You really brought order to what felt chaotic at times. THANK YOU!!”
